Today was the last day of back radiation. Yipee. Dr. Richards said that the treatment has been successful and that the cancer is dead in those areas that were treated. Now let's keep it that way and hope that the chemo and brain radiation is getting all the other areas.
We picked out a few wigs, bandanas, and scarves yesterday. It was an emotional thing for mom. I was amazed at how the different styles changed the way she looked. Thanks Deb, our cancer care specialist! We aren't sure exactly when she will lose her hair, but it could be soon. Her second of 15 brain treatments was today.
Mom is being a good patient and is resting up and trying to eat well. The fridge is just packed! She has joined netflix so if you have any good movie recommendations send them her way.
Mom mentioned that she got a wonderful email from an old friend in Piedmont that has been through some of what she is going through. She was so appreciative of this woman's story and advice. We don't all walk in the same shoes, but it is very helpful not to feel so alone.
Becky, Jenn, Joel and I are so grateful for all of you and your support and prayers. Don't stop!

Val - Does your mom like British drama and/or crime mysteries? If she does, you have to add Foyle's War to her queue. It is set in WWII and the main character is a murder detective. It's a BBC show that was also on Masterpiece Theatre. I think it's six seasons, but the seasons are only 3-4 episodes each. It's really, really good and it's a nice 60 minute show ... not a full movie.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I saw your blog on Facebook, and I'm sorry to hear about your mom. My mom just recently had spine surgery and is now going through recovery after suffering some paralysis, and my grandfather had a similar situation to your mom where he went from feeling healthy to being diagnosed with cancer everywhere.
Please tell John I said hello.
Hey, some good news!! Talking about hair changing the way you look, you guys need to go to yearbookyourself.com and have some fun! Always a laugh. Maybe Jill can find a look she's like to sport for a while...;)
ReplyDeleteKnow that I always read the updates and think about your family all the time. I'm praying back here in Ohio!
Taken is an awesome flick, but I think Jill may have already seen it? (I have movie alzheimers, so I can enjoy the same movie over and over again!) Liam Neeson plays a father who goes to great lengths to save his kidnapped and enslaved daughter. Thanks for keeping up the blog!

No fair! Joe already suggested "Taken". Roy and I saw it tonight with some friends. You can watch the "All Creatures Great and Small" instantly and they are very good!
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us updated, we have you in our thoughts and prayers as others do.

Big hugs and kisses to all of you. Attitude is everything! Love Bry
ReplyDeleteSusie and I love all of the Jane Austen movies, i.e., "Pride and Prejudice", "Emma", etc. I think they were done through A&E or Masterpiece Theater. I also saw an advertisement for the Carol Burnett shows. One of these days I want to watch them.
ReplyDeleteLoves to you and the kids. It was fun to see John this past weekend and catch up a bit. Linda
