  1. Dear Valerie,
My prayers are with you all at this time. I hadn't been following the blog as it seemed like Jill was getting better and then I had a new baby which didn't leave much free time. Today, Clinton called me as he saw her obituary in the San Leandro Times and told me he remembered how nice she always was. I was so sad to hear she is gone from this earth. I loved her and was grateful for the beautiful influence she was in my life. As I write this one special moment with her stands out in my mind. When she took me through the temple for the first time and we entered the Celestial room. With her eyes sparkling and her beautiful smile she said, "Welcome to the Celestial Kingdom". I am sure she received that same reception from her loved ones as she passed through the veil on Easter Sunday. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family at this time. Thanks for sharing your wonderful mother with me.
    Love, Melody

  2. Hi, Val. The service was quite fitting and a fine tribute to Jill. It was fine because she knew she had completed a large piece of her life on earth. That is, of course, seeing that her children are self-sufficient and capable. You said it quite well when you realized that Jennie could turn the pages of Becky's music.

We are home. Yes, it's a long drive, but a hug from you and your siblings made it all worthwhile. Keep in touch. fishbaughfive@sbcglobal.net

  3. We're back for one more little announcement. Hope you guys take a look. Our interim super.Cindy Cathey, announced to the district that Jill had died. She had our flags posted at half mast in memory of her. The history teacher who also died was Maggie's AP History teacher. Maggie found out about it Friday evening at the motel on Facebook. Losing her beloved first grade teacher and then her quite treasured history teacher... well, it was just a bit beyond belief.

ALL SCHOOLS (Elementary and Secondary) INFORMATION

    Welcome Back (Cindy):
I hope that each of you had a restful, relaxing spring break and that you found time to do whatever it was that you wanted to do. Here’s a few of the plans that I heard about: spend time with family and friends; just chill; travel; work in the garden; go hiking; declutter things, complete your taxes; take a cooking class; etc. Whatever it was, I hope you enjoyed!

    Sad news (Cindy:
Not all over break was as we would have wanted. I am sad to have to let you know of the passing of Charlie Kuruc over spring break. Charlie was a skilled History/Social Studies and AP History teacher at San Leandro High School. Charlie had been a teacher at SLHS since about 1995. Among many other things, Charlie was a mentor teacher and a BTSA support provider for many years always willing to help others. Charlie was also active in the work of his department. He was a respected colleague and a friend to so many and will be missed greatly. Charlie was also adored by his students. He came to teaching from an honorable military career where he was a Captain. Details of a service for Charlie or of his wishes are not known at this time. As I learn more, I will let you know.

I am also sad to let you know of the passing of Jill Ehorn Foy on Easter Sunday. Jill had been a long time San Leandro Adult School teacher and a K and first grade teacher at Roosevelt Elementary School where she taught for about 9 years. Jill was a great teacher, always smiling and always cheerful. She was active in school reform. Jill relocated to Utah a number of years ago but has kept in close contact with many of our teachers. Jill's wishes are that in lieu of flowers, books be donated to her school's leveled book room. The school address is: Coral Canyon Elementary; 3435 Canyon Crest Ave.; Washington, Utah 84780.

I am requesting that the flags be lowered on Monday, April 12th.

  4. I'm still checking the blog. It's part of my mourning process I suppose. Closure will take a long time. I heard a song that seems to have been written for friends and family of your mom. "Sissy's Song" by Alan Jackson is a lovely lyric for anyone else looking for more time with Jill. Love to all, Megan
